This video demonstrates how to change out the main jet on your GY6 carburetor which is typically found on mini buggies and many scooters. It also shows how to remove the pilot jet and clean it. Then everything is put back together. This assumes the carb is off the go cart.

ok i ride dirtbikes and im looking to get a new exsast how do i no what jet to get?
You’re awesome for providing this information
Thank You
one day i was riding my scooter and it was going 60miles then i cut it off and when i started it back up it only went 28 miles and it wont go any faster and i dont know the problem
very helpful, and surprisingly easier than i thought it would be,
ive read that with a motorcycle you just go 1 size up, but what park of the jet gets bigger? and if you were puttin a new exaust on a motorcycle, would this be the only thing you would have to do besides putting on the exaust itself? im 16, just looking for some answeres, thanks
@BuggyMasters thanks for answering. Just one thing Im no mechanic and I dont know much about engines and vehicle mechanics so tell me what is the air intake? Is that one of the black tubes connected to the carb? if so which tube is it? And what is this slide thing & whats it look like? thanks again.
Sounds like the throttle is stuck open. Pull the air intake off and look down the carburetor. The slide should me almost all the way down. You can raise it up with your finger and let go and it should slide back down. Some that is common to happen is the cable itself is not installed correctly where it goes onto the carburetor. There is a groove that it should wrap around. If it hangs partially outside of that groove, it can hold the throttle open.
I tried to remove and clean my carburetor one day(gave up and put it back in) and now my scooter wheel is spinning like crazy. Its not really idling its going like max speed and wont stop unless i turn the engine off. If u can help me i would appreciate it. I have tryed adjusting the idle and that didnt work.
i have a cbr 125 2005 and want to change my jet, but it is a 7mm and i cant find that sort eny were do you know where to find it?
Excellent thankyou
@gedibanez Changing out the rollers is something people usually do to get more pickup but you typically will lose out top end if you do that. The air intake idea will give you more power across the board but at the expense of losing a little gas mileage but if performance is what you are aiming for, who cares about the mileage.
hi great vid, really helpfull at the mo i have a guoben 125 scooter,im thinkin of changing the airfilter, and the main jets and was also toying bout changing the rollers, just to give it a little pick up,going on yr knowledge will this make much difference to acceleraiton, and top end,i knw nothing bout all this mods so yr advce and help would be appreiciated thanx
Man that helped alot i found out where jets were my mower runs great now no mor hi priced shops for me it was so easy thanks a million
oh okay thnx
Yes you probably will. You have to read the spark plug in order to tell how it is running.
If the motorcycle is a China branded engine (GY6) then yes. In fact most motorcycles will be about the same as this. They all have a main jet and a pilot.
and if i were to change my air filter will i need to change the main jet or the pilot jet??
is this similar to 150cc motorcycles?? i mean is the components the same, mines is mikuni
thanks now i no exactly wat to do
