Starting Matt Olsen’s 1914 Sears Cannonball Bike for the first time.

This is a video showing the break-in process before startup of the Sears. This takes place at Carl’s Cycle in South Dakota. We made quite a few parts for this bike in our shop (Hauff Machine) and wanted to be involved in the first startup. After the run-in process gas was added and off it went. With some minor adjustments it will be running down the road. Probably for the first time in the greater part of a century.

I found an Old Bike Bug Bicycle Motor at a Garage Sale

I was just messing around going to Garage Sales and came across an old bicycle motor in an old box. It wouldn’t fit on the larger forks of my newer bicycle, but I had an old Schwinn wasting away in a barn that was just waiting for this. I was very surprised when after not too much work that the old thing started up! These motors were made by Tanaka corporation until the early 80′s under the names Bike Bug, Tas Spitz, Free Spirit (Sears), and more. This one is a Bike Bug from Aquabug, a company that resold these out of New York.
